brahms

listening to brahms now. these days on my car I have been listening to eric clapton/jj cale, elvis, cat power and kenny burrell, apart from the radio, fully overloaded with the subject of the absurd farmers' strike

a few weeks ago I played with bochaton in villa maria, and I used this amp. one of the worst experiences I had on a gig. appaling...never use this for an electric guitar!!!! the promoters or the venue's owner thought it's the same a guitar amp and a bass amp. well, it's not. had it been a fender bassman, maybe!!!!!!!

on the other side, when playing with charly in mar del plata I used this amp

and it was heaven!!!!

a busy week,

guitar lessons on tuesday, followed by a wonderful recording session with charly...a new song, stunning!

wednesday: a talk at national cinema school (enerc) re. my experience with music for films and silent movies, 2 hs queue in the bank, a visit by the mandel family (so glad to see them well!!!) and a rehearsal with flopa's band...also...new songs!!!

not much rest these days. I must look tired: a man at a coffee kiosk at coghlan station suggested I was in a riot or a fist fight...well, I wasn't... why???

thursday: guitar lessons in the morning and afternoon and 2 shows with la national film chamber orchestra at malba in the evening

today I hope to decompress and rest a bit...only 1 show at malba tonight

Monday, May 12, 2008

my jaguar has been readjusted by mr de castro...a superb job...now it rocks! I still haven't tried the midi pickup work yet though, but it looks good

charly also has a new guitar now! I begged him to take care of it...... we hope to get to play together and record soon

I recorded some guitars for samalea's new album last week

rehearsals with flopa begin this week...yes!

francisco bochaton at nd ateneo

may 2, 2008

francisco bochaton at nd ateneo

the band: francisco (electric and acoustic gtrs), matias mango (keys), quique ilid (drums), nelson colinwood (bass) and myself (electric gtr)

no matter how much we rehearse with francisco... there are so many songs in his repertoire always readily available to be called at the gigs (some times asked for by members of the audience) that there is always a great deal of surprise, freshness, inventive on the spot...the versions are always different, I like this! we played a brand new song today: gira la serpiente. a hit

nd ateneo is such a treat...the sound is superb...by far this is my favorite venue in this country. I played in this venue with robert fripp & the league of crafty guitarists, with juana molina, with flopa, with maria eva albistur, with samalea, with roxana amed...all different styles of music, and it always sound superb...

my setup this time: fender jaguar > fender blues deluxe amp > mxr distortion > rat > boss volume pedal > line 6 delay modeller > boss dd20 giga delay

back home around 3am, by the time the band was getting ready to party

what have I been listening to in my car recently? the travelling wilburys, haco, miles davis, skay, bill monroe, mark knopfler/emmylou harris and classical fm

today after buying 4 fish for the pond, I dropped my wife and daughter at granny's house and drove to alto palermo. I bought a cream dvd and an elvis cd and visited charly. we listened to new recordings and improvements on previous ones. great stuff! we ate a delicious chocolate cake
