I used it through my mxr distortion, rat, boss dd20 giga delay and line 6 dl4 delay modeller and fender blues deluxe tweed amp... high volume on stage...excited and friendly audience

Iman played yesterday!

I'm still struggling with my jaguar, I think I need to have its pickups waxpotted, or replaced, too much high freq feedback at high volume. I will send it to de castro for adjustment, setup and advice,

meanwhile I will use my tele for the upcoming shows with bochaton and iman

a very intense day yesterday, working with students in the morning, recording for clautropolis in the afternoon and playing with iman in the evening.

I enjoyed playing with iman, I would have liked to see alejandro's face, but a mirror was not easily available...very good attendance, many good friends and musicians in the audience... sama, tito, lolo, juan, maria laura, fede...

the band is getting together and I can see the recordings happenning soon; thelonous is a wonderful venue and we felt very well treated. remarkable.

la national film chamber orchestra played last friday at malba, last saturday at el rosedal and it's recording music for claustropolis in my new studio.
today we recorded bandoneons, guitars, strings and fantasia.... after the first session with enzo the engineer and matias I went back to the studio and set up a second room that will become my PRS "personal recording space". I loaded the movie on vegas, a program I can manage, and setup a GR1 to drive my powerbook loaded with reason and amazing refills...

my new anvil pedalboard is ready but it's impossibly heavy. so I decided to order a soft case from meg, and have wheels put on the anvil...hoping to try both options soon.

Fuga Grafica

I travelled to Rosario last Saturday to see Charly play at The Hipodromo. Great to see Charly play again, great to see the band in action and Los Aliados in action again (this wonderul army of fans / friends /supporters of Charly). The band sounded great. I was particularly moved in a few spots: Kiuge's solo on No te Animas, Charly and Nito together, Charly and Fito together (Fito's piano playng was stunning!). This capacity of this new Charly to play WITH somebody is remarkable. Also seeing him in "conductor" mode was great. Very good concert, I'm glad I went. Well, also the after show dinner at La Refineria was a highlight...Charly was a very happy boy, I rarely saw such a smile in his face.

Yesterday I played a solo improv performance at Fuga Grafica, the performance felt good to me. I played after Pablo Ribot (great set) and before Luis Marte and Lothus, whose performances I missed... I forgot the transfo for my Kaoss Pad so I played without it which ended up being an advantage: I could focus in the music, the sound and the notes more than "in what effects to use".

Back home tired but happy.

the concert with mussa phelps & prack was cancelled due to a mistake made by the person who programs no avestruz. too bad. they programmed 2 shows of the same band the same night. sad. I was so much looking forward to playing with mr. phelps!!!!!!!!!!!!!

a last minute call became a magic night: i was invited to join the opening of the buenos aires jazz festival at vinilo club: gillespi and alejandro franov plus lucio mazzaira and myself. this became a magic night. a feeling of " a perfect lineup" and lots of fun. a wonderful venue, good sound, full house (packed!) and very good vibe...

Francisco Bochatón en La Cigale

El músico platense brilló en la noche del jueves

El espacio reducido del escenario de La Cigale podía presagiar un recital en el que Francisco Bochatón priorizara el lado más acústico de su repertorio. Sin embargo, el trovador platense optó por dar junto al trío que lo acompaña, un show eléctrico y adrenalínico. Eso sí, aprovechó muy bien la cercanía que tenía con su público para mantener un diálogo continuo y cargado de ironía con los presentes. Así, la vuelta de Soda Stereo, las corbatas de Miranda! o los Pixies (los músicos se animaron a pedido del público a improvizar la intro del clásico “Here comes your man”) fueron algunos de los tópicos sobre los que un Bochatón afilado, distendido y algo mareado se refirió a lo largo del show. Las drogas y la bebida fueron otros lugares recurrentes en la fluida conversación entre el artista y su público. De hecho, a alguien se le escuchó gritar: “Francisco, tenés poesía en tu vaso”


En cuanto a las canciones, todo comenzó con “Feliz cumpleaños”, a partir de la cual Francisco propuso un viaje por los terrenos conocidos y, otros no tanto, de su carrera solista y sólo se detuvo en unas pocas canciones del reciente “Tic- Tac”. Entre estos temas, sobresalieron “Balvanera” y la frágil y ya adoptada como favorita por los fans “Tu voz se va”. De su ex banda, los fundamentales Peligrosos Gorriones, sonaron “Amo el jardín” y una poderosa versión de la oscura “Manicomio gris”


“Canto familiar”, “Ausente” y “Gaviota”, ésta última con un nuevo arreglo en la guitarra de Fernando Kabusacki, fueron otros momentos impecables del show en el que la poética y la facilidad para crear melodías memorables de Bochatón volvió a quedar en primer plano. Hablando de poética y de poetas, cuando sonó “22 :33” fue difícil no reparar en esa letra tan original como bella, la cual a la manera de Oliverio Girondo, dentro de 50 años va a seguir siendo vanguardista.


Bochatón y su banda ayudaron a que la noche del jueves, con ese clima casi veraniego fuese más perfecta aún.

Washington Dulles Hilton

En route to Buenos Aires from Seattle, the flight to BA got cancelled, so I was sent to the Dulles Hilton, flying back home later today.

I'm flying back home after a week retreat in Raft Island with The Orchestra of Crafty Guitarists. Part of this project was a performance by Tuning the Air presenting Robert Fripp and The Orchestra of Crafty Guitarists at the Fremont Abbey Arts Center.

After this project I stayed a few days at Tuning the Air member (and also Electric Gaucho!) Travis in Seattle. A very comfortable house in Ballard. We attended I very nice party where I presented my abilities as a dancer (I'm sure most of this blog readers were unaware of this specialty of mine…).

I also spent 3 days in Las Vegas: Charly received a Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award to the Musical Excellence. !!!!!! A moving ceremony. Gustavo Santaolalla and Grammy's president handed him the award. Delicious lunch and various parties and shows followed. It was nice to see Coti there (now a very popular singer songwriter), with whom I shared the stage as guitarist with Javier Calamaro many years ago. Also Diego Frenkel was there (we had lots of fun together!). I even got to share a limo ride with El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, sitting next to Maestro Eddie Perez, one of the founders of the Combo.

I was invited to perform in New York with Diego and Andres Levin last Monday but could not arrange my flights.....that was very frustrating....

After much glam, I was happy to be back in Seattle, where I met with several friends. I had a very nice stay in Seattle.

Now I'm stuck in this luxurious hotel in Washington, having a cake from Cupcake Royale for breakfast, looking forward to get back home.

I'll be in Las Vegas for a few days, with Charly at the Latin Grammy Awards.

La National Film Chamber Orchestra played in Asuncion del Paraguay last Monday, at the final ceremony of Festival de Cine. I played with virtuoso player of arpa paraguaya Sixto Corbalan.

The Sala Bicameral del Congreso de La Nacion was full. A hot audience! We played live music for silent film En el infierno del Chaco.

Dinner at a superb Taberna near the hotel.

Back in Buenos Aires in the morning.

I went to Charly's rehearsal in the afternoon in a small stadium. Very moving. The band sounds wonderful, in perfect shape! Happy to see Charly.
