maestro penderecki
last week I visited teatro coliseo again to hear a chamber orchestra from vilnius (home of some kabusacki ancestors) conducted by maestro penderecki. superb. very moving. they played penderecki, shostakovich and dvorak.
thursday: I accompanied charly to the doctor and back home, and that was the last time I saw him before he got into troubles. I tried to fly to san juan but all the flights to san juan and mendoza were fully booked, with no waiting lists. we had arranged I was going to join the band for the show in rosario june 13. I looked forward to this show. I booked a car to drive me to rosario straight after my show with flopa. that meant from the road to the stage, but manageable. it all fell down. sadly. I hope charly will recover soon. I visited him at the hospital yesterday but I wasn't let in. "strict orders: no one is allowed to see him" said a policeman. very very sad. I left a message for him but I doubt it got to his hands at all. I was informed by nachosnm there was going to be a peaceful gathering at his house's door, expressing support.
last night flopa presented her new album at centro cultural rojas. I used my new pedalboard designed and prepared by cluster. very comfortable! in it there's a boss tuner > boss compressor > rat > fuzz factory > mxr distortion > cluster tremolo > line 6 delay modeller. all to a fender blues deluxe. I used my blue fender jaguar. a sold out show. flopa and this band are so wonderful, and the songs so beautiful...more luxury: guest guitarists rodrigo guerra, manza, claudio lafalce and ariel minimal! a claim from flopa: "free charly garcia"
pizza at guerrin with flopa and band after the show
listening to 00I00 in the car. reading andy summers' "one train later". watched robert wyatt's bbc documentary.

getting cold in buenos aires
very cold days in buenos aires, my old leather jacket is on.
rehearsals with flopa's band continue, with new versions of old songs and new versions of new songs. the band's lineup is always moving: rodrigo guerra is playing guitars on some songs and juan plays keyboards and percussion instead of gtr. on the last rehearsal I missed juan's guitar.
weekly rehearsals continue, and 2 shows with francisco bochaton. one in san miguel 2 weeks ago (one of the best for this lineup) and last friday in ciudad vieja, la plata. things change so much for me when there is another electric guitarist in the band...and I can't complain at all...in charly's band there's kiuge...in francisco's band there francisco playing a strat and in flopa's band there is juan or rodrigo (flopa plays acoustic). luxury.
the combination of my washburn red rocker (w/ seymour duncan) and the blues deluxe works well, particularly with the sd bridge pickup
on the van back to buenos aires last saturday morning we listened to a recording from our previous show at ciudad vieja. all of us were surprised. I think there's a live ep there...at least...
on friday eve I went see maestro daniel baremboin directing bruckner at teatro coliseo. superb.
